Congratulations to Newry bride-to-be Sarah McKeever who was crowned the 2011 Bookourwedding.com Bride-of-the-Year.

Excitement and nerves gathered in the Culloden Hotel on Sunday 16th October 20111 as the four finalists eagerly awaited for Angela Mountstephens, former Miss Northern Ireland winner, to reveal the name of the winning bride who would walk away with a £10,000 wedding package.

Among the finalists were Alison Hamilton and her fiancé John Montgomery both from Ballymena, Jocelyn Rooney from Newcastle and her fiancé Noel Kirkpatrick from Enniskillen, Sarah McKeever and her fiancé Conor McShane both from Newry and Jayne O’Neill from Coalisland and her fiancé Daniel Boyd from Augher. When Sarah McKeevers name was revealed as the Bride-of-the-Year winner, there were cheers of joy from the crowd as her family and friends had travelled along to the Culloden Hotel to support her and her fiancé Conor in this wedding competition.

The story behind Sarah & Conor

‘Conor and I both went to the same small village school so we have known each other for a long time! Following two years as a couple we went to Australia. It was here I realised in my heart that we were meant to be together. After the best year of our lives we moved home and Conor continued to be my rock and my best friend’

Their engagement

‘Conor whisked me off to a hotel and we spent an amazing weekend together. Conor was nervous but began explaining that he felt like the luckiest man in the world because of me. He produced the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen’

Bronagh Darragh, Belfast

The wedding proposal that swept Bronagh off her feet and resulted in Bronagh & Marty winning a dream wedding package

After two years of long distance Marty moved to Kent, England to be with me. Within this year he booked a 4 day break to Venice and an amazing hotel. After a day of walking around Venice, seeing the sights and taking a ride on a gondola, we walked to a riverside cafe which served beautiful wine. We sat holding hands and watching the boats go by and after a while he asked if we could go back to the hotel and get ready for dinner. It had been such an amazing day that we decided to stop off at a local shop which sold champagne and purchased a bottle of Dom Pérignon, and while we were buying this, a lady shouted over, "Did you just get engaged?!" I replied,"No way, its been five years and he still hasn’t pulled his finger out!" We then went back to the hotel room and when I came out of the bathroom, Marty asked me to sit down for a minute. Marty had poured out two glasses of champagne then the next thing I remember was Marty explaining how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
